Grave Addiction Tour

Gravestones, death, and dying in early America.

You'll love the Concord Tour Company's atmospheric walk through two of Concord's oldest cemeteries as we explore everything about our graves from burial customs to iconography. A sometimes humorous and sometimes chilling look at the stories behind the stones.

Tour route: we'll walk for about 1-mile total over a combination of rough, uneven ground and some paved sidewalks in low light.

Appropriate footwear is strongly recommended (no flip flops or heels).
Note: Old Hill Burial Ground is not wheelchair accessible.

Grave Addiction tours depart one hour before sunset during the month of October only, Friday through Sunday evenings. Please check the online schedule for exact departure times  Book in advance.

Grave Detectives! Stories in Stone is an interactive discovery tour for kids and adults exploring the art, history, and sometimes funny stories behind the stones.

Grave Detectives! will introduce families to some of Concord’s oldest history that is hiding in plain sight at Old Hill Burying Ground.
This tour will introduce kids to how to read gravestone iconography, how to use images to roughly date stones, and how the epitaphs convey information.

Grave Detectives! Tour Dates:
Sunday, Oct. 3rd, Monday, Oct. 11th, Saturday, Oct. 23rd, and Sunday, Oct 31st at 11:00am.

Ghosts in the Gloaming: An evening of fireside ghost stories and historical hauntings in New England

Ghosts in the Gloaming Event Dates:
Wednesday, October 13th &
Wednesday, October 27th at 6:00pm-7:30pm.

Come join us around the flickering fireplace for an evening of ghostly tales as we explore the spookier side of New England's history! 

In the warm antiquity of the Colonial Inn's Thoreau Room, you'll meet your time traveling guides from the 18th & 19th centuries who will lead you on an eerie journey through true stories, mysterious sightings, and favorite legends of yore from around the region, and right here in Concord. 

Based on original letters, eyewitness accounts, and oral history, treat yourself to this unique Halloween narrative that brings some of our shadowy past back into the light.

Ghosts in the Gloaming will be followed by a chance to stretch your legs and shake off those cobwebs during an exclusive look around Concord's Colonial Inn, including one of the rooms that was investigated on "Ghost Hunters". 

Dessert will be served (chocolate cake) along with apple cider, coffee, and tea.
